چکیده

Background HLA alleles are associated with differential outcomes of infections/diseases. We hypothesize that epitopes that interact with HLA alleles associated with resistance elicit a protective immune response in the host, and could therefore serve as good vaccine candidates. Among the HLA alleles reported to be associated with resistance to HIV infection/slow progression to AIDS, HLA-A*0201 occurs most frequently in the Indian population. We undertook this study to identify HIV epitopes specific to this HLA allele from HIV-1C.

Identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis CTL Epitopes Restricted by HLA-A*0201 in HHD Mice

CD8+ T cells are thought to play an important role in protective immunity to tuberculosis. The major histocompatibility complex class I subtype HLA-A*0201 is one of the most prevalent class I alleles, with a frequency of over 30% in most populations. HLA-A*0201 transgenic, H-2Db/mouse beta2-microglobulin double-knockout mice (HHD) which express human HLA-A*0201 but no mouse class I, was shown t...

In silico identification of epitopes from house cat and dog proteins as peptide immunotherapy candidates based on human leukocyte antigen binding affinity

The objective of this descriptive study was to determine Felis domesticus (cat) and Canis familiaris (dog) protein epitopes that bind strongly to selected HLA class II alleles to identify synthetic vaccine candidate epitopes and to identify individuals/populations who are likely to respond to vaccines. FASTA amino acid sequences of experimentally validated allergenic proteins of house cat and d...

Molecular Identification of Pre-Existing Immunityin Human against H9N2 Influenza Viruses Using HLA-A*0201 Binding Peptides

Background and Aims: The contribution genetic and antigenic diversity of H9N2 influenza viruses in evading from immune responses, cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) epitopes in hemagglutinin (HA) protein restricted by HLA binding peptides was identified. Materials and Methods: Phylogenetic analyses were carried out for all of full length HA and deduced amino acid sequences of H9N2 viruses available ...

Substantial Differences in Specificity of HIV-Specific Cytotoxic T Cells in Acute and Chronic HIV Infection

Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) play a vital part in controlling viral replication during human viral infections. Most studies in human infections have focused on CTL specificities in chronic infection and few data exist regarding the specificity of the initial CTL response induced in acute infection. In this study, HIV-1 infection in persons expressing human histocompatibility leukocyte antigen...

Mapping cross-clade HIV-1 vaccine epitopes using a bioinformatics approach.

UNLABELLED The genomic variability of HIV viruses circulating in different regions of the world has impeded the development of a globally relevant HIV vaccine. Broadly conserved HIV-1 cytotoxic T cell (CTL) epitopes were identified by screening protein sequences in the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) HIV sequence database with a sequence parsing and matching algorithm (Conservatrix). Puta...
